We are Pure Dance.
Pure Dance is a student-run org at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. We provide dancers with the opportunity to work with individuals who may have broad spectrum of strengths and backgrounds. Creating and maintaining an open and inclusive environment is extremely important to us. We recognize that the world of dance is often extremely mentally and physically demanding, so we strive to provide a safe place, where dancers can express themselves without the pressure of conforming to the 'ideal dancer' archetype.
Showcase
Traditionally, Pure Dance has an annual showcase in January or February. We perform the member-choreographed dances we have been working on throughout the Fall semester. Additionally, we have guest performances from other Performing Arts groups on campus including many mediums, from dance to singing to percussion and more!
What We Do
Guest Performances
Similar to the guest performances at our own showcase, we also perform in other
Performing Arts groups shows throughout the year.
Hired Performances
We are happy to perform at any event that desires some entertainment. In the past we have performed at nursing homes and multiple University events. We do both paid and unpaid gigs.
Due to the pandemic, Pure has looked a little different this year, but we have still been hard at work choreographing and learning dances. We would love to have our annual, in-person showcase but instead, we have decided to post this year's content here! Our media drop will be on April 17th at 3pm ET. We are so excited to share what we have been working on this year!
Donations Accepted!
In conjunction with our Media Drop we are asking for donations to help several causes that are meaningful to our dancers.
